New House

So, I moved into my new house on Saturday. I'm glad I waited a couple of days to write a journal about it, coz I really wasn't happy to begin with.

For starters, this house is nowhere near as nice as our old house. It's not gross and horrible or anything, but we'd been a little spoilt by previous house. When I moved in, Amy was the only one here, but she was out pretty much all day and night for work, so I was all by myself for my first night, which was LAME. I had tomato sausages and alphabetti spaghetti for dinner coz I couldn't be bothered to make real food and had a couple of glasses of wine. Managed to get my webcam working and I had a chat online with Matt, which was quite fun and cheered me up a little.

Then, when I went to bed (a lot later than I should have done due to random internet browsing) I realised jsut how appallingly useless the blinds at the window were. And as well, because my room is the front room, it has the front door in it, which has a big window over it (for some reason painted red and with a blind that doesn't cover all of it) and a biggish window in the door (not the kind you can see through) and there's a streetlamp right opposite the house, so it was SO light in my room! I had to get up and stick a couple of posters over the window in the door coz it was lighting up half the bed! They didn't do much to help, but at least softened the blow a little. Then there was the moment at 3am when I found out that nextdoor has a cuckoo clock. Joy. The walls here are SO THIN. You can hear our (very loud anyway) neighbours ALL THE TIME.

Which leads me onto the next morning, when at about 8am I heard a phone ringing nextdoor and was kind of like: "Who would be phoning at 8am?" The ringing went on for a while and then turned into some other weird sounds, which confused me, and I soon realised that it was some kind of bird that was making the noises! I don't know what it is, it didn't sound big or squawky enough to be a parrot so it might be a cockatiel or something. But it would NOT shut up! And that coupled with the rubbish blinds letting in all the light, making it practically daylight in my room, it really wound me up and I just felt like crap. I was half considering asking the estate agents if I could get out of the contract and move somewhere else!

So I got up and had a shower and arranged to meet Beckie, who lives with her fiancé now. She came over and had a brief look at the house, then we walked to hers, which is REALLY far away! Then I got to meet her cats and they were nice. After that, we went to a local pub which was on a boat and had lunch, which was really tasty. Then, on the way back from there, Dan sent me a text asking if I wanted to visit, so we both went over to hang out with him, which was lots of fun coz I've not seen Dan all summer. There's a deadnice ginger kitty who plays in the gardens around his house and when we went out to play with her, we found out that Dan lives nextdoor to some guy that Beckie and I 'befriended' and called Liony George coz he had really big blond hair like a mane when we first met him. It was awesome! Then we went home after that and I ended up not making a dinner coz I was still full from lunch. But it was just such a nice day and really nice to spend time with friends and get out a bit and have a lovely time. It really cheered me up. I'd barely seen Amy at all by that point, so I'd been kinda lonely.

Then after all the walking and the lack of sleep the night before, it wasn't so hard to get to sleep and already knowing about the cockatiel that likes to make telephone noises early in the morning meant that it wasn't as offensive when it happened. I think it was mostly coz it was just so unexpected at the time that it was really bad. It wasn't as bad this morning and I had a huge lie-in. There are still loads of things about the house that are a bit rubbish, but I felt a lot better about everything after a fun day. It should be loads better when Sarah moves in on Saturday, then when uni starts I'll have more stuff to do.

Today was fairly uninteresting, I caught up with about 10 episodes of Neighours on Demand Five, so that took up a large portion of my day. And I saw quite a lot of Amy today (in comparison at least) and we had dinner together at the table (our old house didn't have a table, which is why that was so special) and then she went out to see a friend. However, she has managed to give me a cold, despite barely seeing me. I'm less than impressed. I had two really bad colds over the summer and I've not long got over the last one! I also had a chat with the lady who lives nextdoor on the other side, because she can't find her alley key and needed to put the bin out so I unlocked the gate for her and I'm gonna bring her bin back in tomorrow and pop it in our garden till she coems home so that she doesn't have to come and ask for the key again if she hasn't found it. She let me meet her husky dog too :D She was very pretty. I've seen her in the front window before, but I got to say hello properly.

So, I'm feeling a lot better about stuff now, which is good. Wish I didn't have a cold though. And I know that Matt has work and everything, but we've barely spoken since I moved in and he knows I've been feeling a bit crap about everything and that's kinda sucky to be honest. I asked him to call me today and he didn't. Wah. But anyway. I should try and unpack a little more tomorrow, but there isn't really anywhere to put anything, there's not a great deal of storage here, or space. We'll see.

Hope everybody is well (unlike me. I'll have to go and buy some cold medicine and stuff tomorrow) and that you're doing lots of lovely stuff :rzero: xXx
